Textile stock in takas, meters and kilos, together
Cloth is bought by the meter, handled by the taka and sometimes sold by the piece or the kilo. Stock kept in one unit alone cannot be checked against the godown, and the closing stock in the balance sheet drifts from the cloth on the shelf. GintiDesk carries all three counts on every purchase, mill entry, sale and GST bill.
Three counts on every line
A line on a purchase, a challan or a sales invoice carries pieces, cut, weight and meters. The item is still kept in its own unit, the one set on its master, so its stock and its value never change unit halfway through the year.
Rate On: what the bill is priced per
Rate On says what the rate on a line is per: METERS, PCS or KGS. A cloth kept in meters can be sold per piece; the amount is pieces × rate, and the stock still moves in meters.
Stock you can check
- Stock Summary: every item with pieces, meters and kilos side by side, valued at cost.
- Grey Fabric Stock and Finished Goods Stock, kept apart.
- Stock Ledger and Stock Movement: every in and out, with the voucher behind it.
- Godowns, Stock Transfer between them, and Stock Adjustment for a count or damage.
Cloth at the mill is still stock Goods sent to a mill or a job worker are not sold. They leave your godown and show as at mill or at job worker, still yours, until they come back.
Questions
Can I sell per piece an item I keep in meters?
Yes. Set Rate On to PCS on the line; the bill is priced per piece and the stock moves in meters.
How is closing stock valued?
At cost, the weighted average of what the goods actually cost, in the item's own unit.
Can I see stock godown by godown?
Yes. Stock Summary and the stock reports can be narrowed to one godown, and Stock Transfer moves goods between godowns at the cost already standing.
